More than 100 MUHS students participated and $3,500 of the funds was converted into a down payment for a West Side family, Edith and John Hall and their son Tyrell, to own their dream home that they’d been renting. The first sleepout to raise money for the Merrill Park neighborhood was in the fall of 1993 and students got sponsors for sleeping outside.
